Ekahau proposes a smart position engine. This application is a powerful positioning server that provides PC, PDA, and asset TAG location coordinates (x, y, floor) and tracking features to client applications. Ekahau’s patented positioning technology features up to 1 meter (3½ ft) average accuracy, enabling people and asset tracking both indoors and outdoors.
Here is how it works :
1) Create a Positioning Model – Use Ekahau Manager to open any floor-plan or map image (BMP, JPG, PNG) and draw Ekahau Tracking Rails on the map to increase positioning accuracy and stability.
2) Calibrate the Positioning Model – Move around the area while clicking the map to record sample points containing received signal strength intensity (RSSI) samples. No information about the access point locations is required.
3) Start tracking – Click the locate button in Ekahau Manager to start tracking devices. You can also save the Positioning Model to Positioning Engine to let applications retrieve the device locations, headings, speeds, etc. by using Ekahau SDK (Software Development Kit) or socket-based YAX protocol.
4) Analyze the accuracy – Click the analysis button to record some additional test data. Visually analyze the positioning error vectors and statistics to find areas where additional access points or calibration sample points are needed.
